Catherine and Brian…. Together at Last
Catherine and Brian both grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida and shared family friends, but never had the chance to meet up in adolescent years.
Fast forward 20 years to the Fall of 2014, they both ended up in North Carolina. Brian was living in Asheville and Catherine in Charlotte. They connected one weekend through Tinder, and immediately started chatting. Come to find out, they had a mutual friend Alice – Brian’s best friend from high school and Catherine’s best friends step-sister…small world! Their courtship moved quickly and before they knew it, Brian was going to Daytona for Christmas with Catherine’s family, they were spending alternating weekends in either Charlotte or Asheville, vacationing with families and planning for Brian transfer to Charlotte by mid-2015. In September of 2015, Brian planned a surprise weekend getaway to New York City and proposed on September 13th at the top of Rockefeller Center!
PS…Alice ended up being Brian’s “Best Man” at the wedding.
Where/When was the wedding:
We were married on April 16, 2016 in Mooresville, North Carolina at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church and celebrated with friends and family at Jeffrey’s Restaurant following the ceremony.
We honeymooned in France! Brian planned the perfect 2 week trip enjoying Paris, Reims and Burgundy.
The entire day was a whirlwind and went by very quickly, but the moment the doors of the church opened and I looked around to see everyone we loved in attendance that was amazing! Then to stare down the aisle at Brian, I couldn’t walk fast enough!
Advice to brides currently planning weddings:
Don’t worry so much about making your wedding “Pinterest Perfect”. Everyone has different budgets and different aspects that are important to them. Focus on what is most important to you as a couple and do that.
Best source of encouragement and support:
Our family and friends…especially our church family. Knowing we have the support from other married couples who have “been there/done that” really helps put married life into perspective. No one has the perfect marriage, they all take work. Most of all, remember to put God first…he will always be the most powerful source of support.
Hopes/dreams for your family’s future:
I hope our love for each other will continue to grow and flourish year after year. I want to look back in 50 years and think…how amazing
The best advice you’ve ever been given about marriage:
Marriage Takes Three. It is a covenant between the husband, wife and God. As long as He is at the center, you are stronger together than you will ever be apart.
